Character Profile: Tracy Jordan

After the two main characters, Liz and Jack, there is roughly a cast of five to six supporting characters. This post is in reference to the larger than life Tracy Jordan, played by similarly named Tracy Morgan. He is possibly the most unstable personality on the show, closely followed by Jenna.

Likes: The unorthodox mind of Tracy Jordan provides people with a wide variety of things he is amused by. For start, he enjoys being seen in sort of a ridiculous light, enough to seemingly get a giant tribal facial tattoo. Frequent trips to a strip club also tickles his fancy. He likes nachos from Yankee Stadium, as well as grenadine and fried rice for meetings with the boss. Grizz, Dot Com and Kenneth also lead to some of Tracy’s favorite times on TGS. The four of them like playing Halo together, as long as Tracy wins. Kenneth and Tracy have also been known to harmonize some of Tracy’s favorite songs.

Relationships: Tracy has been married to Angie Jordan for seventeen years as of the 2007 episode "Up All Night", implying that they were married around 1990. According to Tracy, they like to roleplay, including playing rape, where he puts on a ski mask. Tracy admitted in "Tracy Does Conan" that he often walks around his house naked to show his oldest boy "who got the biggest ding-dong". He has two sons, named Tracy Jordan Jr. and George Foreman Jordan. Tracy and his wife briefly separated at the start of Season 2 but got back together at some undisclosed point afterwards. In "The One", Tracy claimed that he has never cheated on Angie, and that he only parties with women to keep up his rap credentials. This was finally made public after Tracy's nanny published a tell-all book in "Don Geiss, America, and Hope."

Career: One of the items that provide many laughs on the show are the list of films Tracy has starred in. Below is that list in full with some details.
  • Who Dat Ninja - he plays an African-American ninja. Early episodes show the spelling in the poster found in Tracy's dressing room as being Who Dat Ninga.
  • Black Cop/White Cop - "One does the duty; the other gets the booty!", in which he plays a black cop who disguises himself as a White cop. (Reference to White Chicks)
  • Black Cavemen - "So simple, a Black Caveman can do it!", in which he plays a Black Caveman who, along with his friends, tries to fit into a society which is slow to accept them. (Reference to GEICO Cavemen)
  • Honky Grandma be Trippin' - in which he portrays a black man who disguises himself as an overweight elderly white woman. (Reference to Big Momma's House)
  • President Homeboy - in which he plays a black president. (Reference to Head of State)
  • Fat Bitch - "She's off the leash!", in which he turns into a dog. Don Geiss wanted a sequel made, despite the fact that Coco (Fat Bitch) died at the end. (Reference to The Shaggy Dog)
  • Samurai I-Am-Awry - spent nine months in Japan filming this movie.
  • Death Bank - film with the tagline "Money is the Root of All Evil." (Possibly a reference to The International)
  • A Blaffair to Rememblack - a remake of An Affair to Remember. The title parodies many blaxploitation movies, such as Blacula and Blackenstein.
  • Cruise Boat - in which he declares, "I'm getting too old for this ship!" (Reference to a Danny Glover quote in Lethal Weapon)
  • A Rapping Grandma movie costarring Betty White, where Tracy plays the rapping granny.
  • Sherlock Homie - presumably an urban reimagining of Sherlock Holmes.

Below is a video I found on youtube that is a clip from a Season 4 episode where the insanity of the character is truly shown.
